Boardwalk Pizza Review

Although Orlando does have its foodie niches (food trucks, pho restaurants, theme park fare) its gluten-free pizza scene is sorely lacking. Having eaten around the region trying gluten-free pizzas of all shapes and sizes, I consider Boardwalk Pizza in Winter Park as my favorite independent pizzeria in the Orlando area because their pizzas are consistently good and the staff are knowledgable.  Although I’ve eaten at Boardwalk Pizza countless times over the […]

Pepa's Arepas Food Truck Review

One of my favorite features of Orlando’s foodie scene is food trucks: mobile gourmet restaurants on wheels that pop up all over the Central Florida region. Found at farmers’ markets, local hotels, and special food truck bazaars that collect dozens in one place, food trucks are easily accessible, but often have limited options for gluten-free diners. Luckily, there are a special few food trucks who work to make sure their […]

Ben and Jerry's Gluten-Free Dairy-Free Sorbet Review

It’s really hard not to like Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. After all, with cute flavor names, a socially conscious philosophy, and commitment to making really delicious desserts, it’s no wonder they’re one of America’s favorite ice cream purveyors.  Recently, Ben and Jerry’s announced that they are working on dairy-free ice cream flavors made with coconut and/or almondmilk. Unfortunately, this review is not covering those yet-to-be released creations. Instead, this […]

Gluten-Free Guest Chef Bob Aungst at The Bistro on Park Avenue Review

Because of my dairy-free constraint, my courses came out in a different order than the menu shows. Because the risotto cakes were not dairy-free, Chef Bob brought out my salad course first to allow for a custom dairy-free risotto to be freshly cooked once I got there. Those who read my blog know that I’m usually not a big salad fan, but I must give Chef Bob full credit for crafting […]

Vivoli Gelateria Review (Downtown Disney/Disney Springs)

When you think of Italy’s finest exports, most of them are not gluten or dairy-free: pasta, artisan cheeses, and other delicacies. Luckily, Orlando’s newest import- Vivoli Gerlateria- is different because it is an equal opportunity business, offering plenty of dairy-free and dairy-filled offerings to please one and all. What’s really neat about this gelati emporium is that it’s sister store is a beloved time-tested family-run gelato parlour in Florence, Italy. That’s right, there’s […]

Bongos Cuban Cafe Review (Downtown Disney)

Working two internships this summer, I haven’t has a much time as I’d like to explore in and around Orlando. Throw in record-breaking temps, higher than high humidity, and the usual unpredictability of Floridian weather, and it’s clear why my adventures have been few and far between. Waiting for a free weekend to get out and simply enjoy a day on the town, I knew that I wanted to explore […]

Carrabba's Italian Grill Review

If the soup is uninspired, my entree would be described as the polar opposite. I went with the wood grilled salmon with a side of Italian green beans. The salmon, made without the grill baste, came topped with a tomato basil vinaigrette that was downright tantalizing. Made with flavorful tomato, aromatic basil, and deliciously distinctive balsamic vinegar. The fish itself was cooked perfectly, easily sliced by a fork. The green beans, cooked with olive oil, featured […]

Hubbly Bubbly Falafel Shop Review

Ever since discovering the magic of falafels while exploring Annapolis this spring, I’ve been wanting to get another taste of the Middle Eastern delicacy. Luckily, I stumbled across Hubbly Bubbly, a College Park installation while going out for lunch with a friend recently, and the location proved to be the perfect meet-up point. What’s so cool about Hubbly Bubbly, is that this little restaurant serves up seriously good food that […]

Sus Hi Eatstation Review (Sushi Eatstation)

Although I’ve taste tested my way around many Asian cuisines here on the blog, I have not yet made it to the world of sushi, mostly for my dislike of raw fish and difficulty of finding safe places to give the cuisine a go.  Luckily, a previous engagement near UCF proved to be the perfect opportunity for me to try out Sus Hi Eatstation, a funky sushi place that serves up food […]

Specialty Pizza Review

There are times when I am game for constructing a pizza masterpiece from scratch, and there are times when I am not. After a long workweek left me exhausted and uninspired, I could think of no better way to spend Tonys Sunday than settling in for the Broadway’s best night with a delivery pizza on hand to maximize the fun and minimize the mess. Living north of Orlando, most of […]
