Nutty Crunch Review (Paleo/Grain-Free)

Right off the bat, I will admit that I am not the biggest fan of granola. My breakfast usually consists of cereal, bagels, or simply fruit and nut butter. However, a recent trip to the Lake Eola Farmer’s Market changed my mind, as I discovered a vendor I had not seen before: Nutty Crunch.

Offering gluten-free, grain-free, paleo granola, I was drawn in by the prospect of a healthy paleo snack that would help me satisfy my “snack attacks” in a healthier way that not only would taste good, but be really good for my body too. I was literally in love with it at first bite, and came home from the market with three bags of this delicious concoction, eager to share my find with you, my readers.

What’s really cool about Nutty Crunch is that it was created by a local personal trainer who wanted to help his clients make healthier food choices, but not feel restricted by inedible options. All flavors of Nutty Crunch are gluten-free, peanut-free, soy-free, and dairy-free. Since it is not made with oats, this granola is even safe for gluten intolerant people who cannot tolerate them. Low glycemic and non-GMO, this product is crafted to appeal of people with many dietary restrictions and concerns. That said, note that that this granola does contain eggs and nuts, and is not vegan. Nutty Crunch comes in four regular flavors and one seasonal:

  • Cinnamon
  • Cajun Spice
  • Madagascar Vanilla
  • Chocolate Chop Madagascar Vanilla
  • Gingerbread (seasonal October-December)
I sampled and came home with two of the four regular flavors: the cinnamon and the chocolate chip.

Starting first with the cinnamon, I loved the simplicity of this granola: the blend of nuts artfully crafted with the perfect amount of cinnamon. This one was a hit as a grab-and-go breakfast for me as well as a nice snack to bring with me when I do the night shift at my internship. I like how the granola comes in chunks of all sizes, because they make portion control easy- although I dare you to stop after eating one cluster!

The cinnamon granola’s ingredients are: Coconut chips, almonds, pecans, walnuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, organic coconut oil, organic raw honey, organic cinnamon, egg whites, Madagascar vanilla, and Celtic sea salt.

As good as the cinnamon granola was, the chocolate one really won over my heart- well, my sweet tooth. Indulgent, with its decadent dark chocolate and slight saltiness from the nuts and sea salt, this allowed me to satisfy my sugar cravings without heading in a more nutritionally dangerous direction. I bought two bags at the farmers’ market, and by Monday, one had already disappeared. I recommend keeping this, and all of their granolas, in the fridge, because the low melting point of the chocolate chips and coconut oil turns them soft pretty fast. After storing mine for several hours, the granola perked up and returned to normal.

The chocolate chip granola’s ingredients are: Coconut chips, almonds, pecans, walnuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, organic coconut oil, organic raw honey, egg whites, dark chocolate chips, Madagascar vanilla, and Celtic sea salt.

At $8 for 6 ounces, Nutty Crunch is not cheap, but it is a good investment in my opinion. I bet it’d be amazing road trip snack, or an indulgent treat before or after working out. I certainly snacked guilt-free thanks to these delicious clusters of goodness, and will be back to purchase more in the near future.
