The Federalist Pig Review

In what seems like a never-ending stretch of social distancing, I have diligent about sticking close to home over the past six months, venturing out only on rare occasions. While I have enjoyed trading in my evening commute to be more creative in the kitchen, I’ve missed the simple luxury of going out to eat and the only potential danger was potential gluten and/or dairy cross contact.  Luckily, a recent visit from […]

Little Beet Table Review

At last year’s Washington DC Gluten-Free Expo, the most exciting piece of news to emerge from the event was that the DC area was getting its first dedicated gluten-free full service restaurant: Little Beet Table.  A New York City export, Little Beet Table serves up seasonally inspired fare in the rare restaurant environment that is completely free from gluten. Not only can they cater to celiacs and other gluten-intolerant diners, they have […]

Friedmans Review (Dinner)

Knowing that a work trip would bring me to New York City for several days, I decided to make the most of the opportunity and built in time for exploring the city a day before my official duties started.  Of course if I can make it happen, seeing a Broadway or off-Broadway show is a must do for any New York City visit, and this trip was no different. With tickets […]

Schnipper's Review

When booking a matinee and evening Broadway show on the same day, I knew I needed to find someplace close to grab gluten-free fare in between shows. After considering all the nearby options using Find Me Gluten-Free’s location feature, I decided to go to Schnipper’s at 41st Street and 8th Avenue- just a few blocks from the heart of Times Square.  I chose Schnipper’s not only because they received glowing reviews […]

Cooper's Hawk Restaurant and Winery Review

Cooper’s Hawk Restaurant is a chain that I have heard quite a buzz about in the gluten-free world. I’ve read other bloggers’ glowing reviews and have seen positive reports on Find Me Gluten Free, a website and app I use religiously. That being said, I approached this dining experience at Cooper’s Hawk with dread, because I have eaten there once before (years ago) and it was one of the worst dining experiences […]

Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant Gluten-Free Menu

While visiting Cincinnati over the President’s Day weekend, my grandparents wanted to go out for dinner with my dad and me. After some searching, we decided that Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant in Kenwood would be a good place to go out because they had an expansive gluten-free menu and lots of choices for the gluten, and non-gluten eaters in our party.  When I arrived our waiter brought out the restaurant’s […]

Citizen Burger Bar Review

After spending Christmas with my family in North Carolina, it was time to head back north where I have officially moved to DC. Road trips are always trying- especially when dealing with holiday traffic, but I looked forward to stopping for lunch in Richmond, Virginia because it would be an opportunity to explore a new restaurant there. After combing for a good place to stop for lunch, Citizen Burger Bar kept coming up […]

The Little Beet Review (Update)

For gluten-free foodies, The Little Beet is a gluten-free haven in Washington DC. This New York City export is 100% gluten-free, and promises seasonal fare, farm-to-table ingredients, and peace of mind when dining out.  Since my first review of The Little Beet, their menu and options have changed enough to warrant an updated blog post. The menu has been reorientated around design-your-own bowls, with a rice, grains, or salad as […]

Primal Food & Spirits Review

I ordered the daily special, Primal’s chicken salad. This is not so much your deli counter variety, but a lovely reimagining, which serves the salad in a deconstructed way. The chicken has a lovely grilled flavor, and is tender and cut into manageable slices. Grapes and Granny Smith apples provide sweetness, with the latter adding a delightful tartness. The almonds added a nuttiness and nice texture to every forkful and […]

The Pedalin' Pig Review

Since I have family in Western North Carolina, I like to make plans to visit multiple times a year. As a city dweller, I enjoy the abundance of beautiful scenery to be had in the mountains and foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and eating southern food that is hard to find in the mid-Atlantic.  When planning a day trip to Grandfather Mountain with my aunt and uncle, a quick Find […]
