Jaleo Review (Metropolitan Washington Restaurant Week Menu)

Here in DC, Jose Andres is one of the district’s most beloved residents. Not only are his restaurants excellent and very allergy-friendly (I’ve reviewed Oyamel, Jaleo, and China Chilcano), but Andres is the founder of World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit organization to empower and strengthen communities around the world with education, training, and social enterprise.  Of his many restaurants, Jaleo is definitely a crown jewel, and features an exciting menu of […]

Jaleo Review

In my last post- I shared the allergen menu from Jaleo, a Jose Andres restaurant with locations in and around Washington D.C. Now, here is my full recap of dinner at this upscale restaurant that takes Spanish tapas to the next level.  Arriving to Bethesda around late afternoon, I dropped my bags at my hotel and ventured right back out a couple blocks to Bethesda Row, a shopping center with […]

Jaleo Gluten-Free and Allergen Menu

After a day in DC, I took the red line Metro to Bethesda to stay overnight for the DC Gluten-Free Expo the following day. There, I stopped at Jaleo in the Bethesda Row shopping complex for a nice dinner. This Jose Andres restaurant (also of Beefsteak and Oyamel fame) like others in the group is really allergen-friendly, and brought out a fully marked menu identifying multiple allergens in every dish. Because […]

Tapa Toro Review

When it comes to eating out gluten-free, one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had occurred last Christmas when a trip to Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant on International Drive in Orlando turned into a total disaster. What promised to be a festive meal with my family soured as I quickly lost faith that I could eat safely there.  This Christmas, I was determined to find a restaurant that would […]

Oyamel Review

With less than 48 hours to explore around Washington D.C., I knew I had to plan efficiently to cover all of the sightseeing and restaurant exploring that I wanted to accomplish over this past weekend.  After rising before the crack of dawn to catch a train into the city I spent Saturday morning exploring the Capital, Supreme Court and Library of Congress. After a sufficient amount of sightseeing for the morning, I made my way to Oyamel […]

Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free Favorite Products: June

June has been a quiet, but busy month for me. Immersed in my internship, I’m finding that my work schedule leaves me with little time and energy to cook whole meals when I get home.  Luckily all four of my favorite finds of June are the perfect solution for dinnertime dilemmas because they’re easy to make and taste great without dirtying up the kitchen.  While great on their own, these products also are […]

Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free Favorite Products: February

Ah February: the month of groundhogs, love, and all too soon comes to a end after 28 days. After the whirlwind that was January for me, February has proven to be a test of time as the winter weather had me snowed in much of the month and the endless demand of academic work and other obligations has me racing from commitment to commitment.  While I was not able to get out and […]

Columbia Restaurant Gluten Free Lunch Menu

After writing my review of my lunch at Columbia, I wanted to include shots of the gluten-free menu for future reference. While I know my posts can get pretty lengthy, I didn’t want a mile-long post laden with pictures. Just as Sanaa’s expansive and impressive menu deserved a post all to it’s own, Columbia’s gluten free offerings deserve a spotlight all to themselves. To see my full review, click here.

Columbia Restaurant Review

When it comes to my favorite restaurants, I must admit right off the bat that Columbia ranks very highly in my book. I’ve been a loyal patron since I was a little girl as my parents started me early on the foodie path at their original Ybor location when we lived in nearby Sarasota. Even as we moved to Ohio then back to the sunshine state, I quickly fell in […]
